SF101 – Historic Preservation
Historic house had to be relocated in order to preserve. The Murphy family were the 2nd residence to move into the city of Burlingame in the late 1800’s. Mr. Murphy held every position at city hall except attorney. Mrs. Murphy started the tree movement for the city of Burlingame.
The house had to be moved in two separate pieces across Caltrain tracks. There was a sliver of opening shortly after 10 pm.
The second floor had to be folded down in order to glide under the overhead lines. This enabled the city to maintain power through out the evening.
Upon arriving at final destination, the Murphy historic house will go through an addition with interior alterations in order to accommodate the modern growing family.
